Join us for the LA premiere of BEFORE THE MOON FALLS, an “intimate portrait of acclaimed Samoan writer Sia Figiel … [that] illuminat[es] the complexities of inconsistently treated mental illness and the devastating toll it can exact on individuals, families and entire communities.” This film is the documentary feature at the 2026 Asian Pacific Film Festival. As a community partner for the event, we’ll be there with copies of her books Where We Once Belonged and They Who Do Not Grieve, and the movie’s director, writer, and producer Kimberlee Bassford will be present. Director Bassford worked closely with Sia over eight years to tell this complicated story and shed light on the non-linear path of mental illness and wellness. Get tickets here!
