Jenny Liou will be joined by Kaya author Kazim Ali, and writers Brandon Som and Phuong T. Vuong for a knock-out reading in San Diego!

Kazim Ali has been working in multiple genres for many years, including a book with Kaya Press, The Secret Room: A String Quartet. In 2003 he founded the small press Nightboat Books and still edits books with them, including recently titles by Marwa Halal, Gillian Conoley, Wo Chan, and Joyelle McSweeney.  

Brandon Som is the author of The Tribute Horse, winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and the chapbook Babel’s Moon. His new book, Tripas, is forthcoming from the University of Georgia Press in 2023. He teaches literature and creative writing at UC San Diego.

Phuong T. Vuong is a Vietnamese American poet and writer from Oakland and author of The House I Inherit (Finishing Line Press, 2019) and the forthcoming A Plucked Zither (Red Hen Press, 2023), which won the Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award 2021. Her publications have appeared in American Poetry Review, Best American Poetry, Prairie Schooner, The Asian American Writers’ Workshop: The Margins, and elsewhere. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Literature at the University of California, San Diego (Kumeyaay land) where she researches Asian American feminism and communes with the Pacific.
