I Even Regret Night: Holi Songs of Demerara had its pre-launch event in New York back in 2018, but last month we’ve had the pleasure to welcome Rajiv Mohabir, award-winning poet and the translator of I Even Regret Night, to Los Angeles for the launch party.

We began on Saturday March 9th with a reading and celebration of I Even Regret Night featuring Rajiv Mohabir, and writers Gabrielle Civil and Namrata Poddar. Blasting a Chutney playlist, the small, this intimate event at Other Books LA kickstarts re-introducing Lalbihari Sharma’s poetic holi songs to the world.

The next event on On Monday March 11th at UCLA, Rajiv Mohabir gave a lunchtime talk on the book and the powerful process of translation–including his own personal connections to Guyana, and the very place where the book was originally written. We are grateful that the Center for India and South Asia generously sponsored the event. Thank you for those who came!

I Even Regret Night is available now!
