Dear Friends,
We hope you and your loved ones are supported, and are able to cultivate laughter and a sense of ease during this challenging and precarious season. In order to reduce the chances of transmission of COVID-19, Kaya Press’ small team of staff and interns began working from home last week. Nevertheless, our commitment to literature, our authors, and our literary community remains unwavering.
Despite physical distancing, we’re actively re-imagining the work we do to produce provocative and challenging diasporic literature, and to support our communities at the same time. In this spirit of social solidarity, we encourage you to cultivate your relationships, to nourish yourselves through reading or collaborating on projects, and to continue holding space for each other.
You can still purchase Kaya Press books from our website (but please anticipate that shipping time will be impacted), or from local booksellers who are still fulfilling orders. For more urgent literary needs, consider reading This is a Bust and Waylaid by Ed Lin, as well as Luis H. Francia’s Eye of the Fish, available now as e-books, or listening to Catherine Liu’s Oriental Girls Desire Romance, available as an audio-book though Audible.
To even describe this moment in the world as “challenging” feels like a grave understatement. How are you doing? Reach out to us over social media, and let us know how you’re coping (or struggling to), what you’re thinking about and reading, etc., and stay tuned for Kaya Press updates.
Yours,
The Kaya Press Team
