Come hang out, get hands-on publishing experience, make collaborative poetry art, get your portrait drawn, and hear amazing literary work from local literary rising stars at the LA Times Festival of Books! We’ll be featuring books from Kaya Press–and you can pick up our newest titles: Readymade Bodhisattva and I Even Regret Night: Holi Songs of Demerara.
We’ll have publishing-and-bookmaking activities and fun writing prompts for authors of all ages–you’ll even get to use our typewriter!
The Lit Lounge will also be home to the USC PhD In Creative Writing and Literature. Stop by to find out more about this incredible program and their publications (Gold Line Press and Ricochet Editions).

SATURDAY APRIL 13th
12:30 – 1:00 P.M.: Reading from Readymade Bodhisattva: Kaya has just published the first South Korean Sci Fi anthology in English Translation. Come hear some excerpts from the book and discuss your fave Sci Fi authors and themes.
1 – 2:00 P.M.: Kaya Press USC Intern Hour: Come hang out with Kaya Press USC interns and have them entertain you or challenge you to word games.
3:30 – 4:30 P.M: Usc Cwlitphd Reading: Come hear readings from an amazing group of PhD Students, featuring: Chris Adamson, Leesa Fenderson, Muriel Leung, Brian Lin, Rachel Neve-Midbar, Katharine Ogle, Austen Rosenfeld, Amy Silverberg, and Lindsey Skillen.
4:30 – 6 PM: Smoking Lit Lounge Happy Hour: Close out the festival with drinks and snacks and sales at the Smoking Hot Lit Lounge.
SUNDAY APRIL 14
10:30 – 11:00 AM: Postcard Poetry Writing inspired by Sesshu Foster’s City of the Future.
12 – 1 pm: UCLA Asian American Studies Department Asian American Publishing Students share their work!
12 – 3 pm: Get your portrait drawn by Gillian Romero!
3 – 4:00 pm: Community Literature Initiative and World Stage Press Hour: Join writers and poets from these two amazing LA literary organizations as they read and discuss the state of community publishing and African American literature.
