The tiger is excited to announce that Kaya Press will be sharing Booth #6000 with Asian American Writers’ Workshop, The Asian American Literary Review Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, and World Stage Press–all are organizations or publishing houses dedicated to writers of color.

THURSDAY MARCH 28th

10:30 – 11 am: Post-panel signing for CREATE THE LITERARY FUTURE YOU WANT Featuring Luis Rodriguez, Traci Kato-Kiriyama, Lawrence Minh-Bui Davis, Hiram Sims, and Amy Shimson-Santo.

3 – 4 pm: World Stage Press and Community Literature Initiative Happy Hour: Come meet the publishers of World Stage Press, Hiram Sims and Camari Carter-Hawkins, and find out more about this amazing African American Press from Los Angeles.

FRIDAY MARCH 29th

11 – 11:30 a.m.: Kaya Press Author Koon Woon Signing: American Book Award winning outsider poet Koon Woon will be signing copies of Water Chasing Water and hanging out. Dim Sum served!

12 – 12:30 p.m.: Emily Jungmin Yoon Signing hosted by AAWW! Poetry editor of The Margins and author of A Cruelty Special to Our Species (Harper Collins) and Ordinary Misfortunes (Tupelo) will sign books.

SATURDAY March 30th

1 – 1:30 pm: Kaya Press Presents forthcoming debut author Mimi Lok, Last of Her Name (October 2019). She’ll be hanging out at the booth and challenging passerbys to word games, and giving us a preview of her heralded new book.

3 – 3:30 pm: Rajiv Mohabir Signing: Rajiv Mohabir signs copies of his translation of I Even Regret Night: Holi Songs of Demerara, the latest recovery project from Kaya Press.

Featuring two Kaya authors, Rajiv Mohabir and Hari Alluri, and Allison Adele Hedge Coke, Angela Peñaredondo, Lee Kava. They will share multimedia works that move from page to spoken word, video poetry, theater performance, musical collaboration, and sound collage, to Indigenous futurisms in performance. This reading reveals how literary and artistic energy build in transformation.
