Come hang out with Kaya at the LA Times Festival of Books this weekend, April 12-13!
We’ll be turning our booth into the Smokin’ Hot Indie Lit Lounge again, providing an oasis from the festival crowd. This time, we’re excited to be partnering with Professor Tom Ontiveros and students from the USC School of Dramatic Arts, who will be transforming our tent into a living room, complete a sofa and houseplants.
This year, we’ll have four types of activities going on throughout the weekend:
1. Casual chat sessions with authors
Come discuss writing with writers like Ruth Ozeki, Edan Lepucki, Janet Fitch, Naomi Hirahara, Luis Rodriguez, Zoe Ruiz of The Rumpus, Steph Cha, Amarnath Ravva, Daniel Olivas, Joseph Lapin, Prince Gomolvilas, M.G. Lord, Elizabeth Scarboro!
2. Mini workshops and readings
Learn to design book covers, bind books, write haiku, edit an anthology, and more!
3. Publish and launch your own book
Our partners Writ Large Press will be continuing PUBLISH, an ongoing project that lets you write (on typewriters!), edit, bind, design, and launch a book in one day! We’ll have typewriters out all weekend and launch parties twice per day.
4. Bookstore
Because not all LA indie publishers will have booths at the festival, we’ll be selling some of their books alongside ours. Check out books from presses like Seite Books and Tia Chucha, and help support indie publishing!
How to find us: We’ll be at booth #380 (next to Taper Hall)
