Nicholas Wong and his book Crevasse have been featured on The Conversant! Fellow poet Brandon Som and Nic had an insightful conversation about body politics, erasure, and the importance of writing in a “literary vacuum.”
I cannot write about the black body or the trans body, as my body has only been informed and disturbed in certain ways. I am a body poet, and I am sure I can find many more out there. But a Hong Kong body is different from an American body, and the queerness experienced is therefore different.
Nic also talks about unique experience of penning poetry in English as his second language, at the same time referencing a number of other poets for their creative form.
