Meet Stephen CuUnjieng, Kaya Press’ Smoking Hot Matching Gift Angel Donor and Advisory Board Member!

Lover of literature and maker of deals, philanthropist qua investment banker Stephen CuUnjieng knows a thing or two about making things happen. Dreaming big is one of Stephen’s specialties—as is spotting potential and getting deals over the finish line—and he likes to make sure that his actions speak louder than words.

For him as for all of us, 2020 has been a challenge, but he has remained undeterred in his desire to support Kaya Press and Asian diasporic literature as well as Vietnamese diasporic arts (through DVAN)! This year and last, Stephen has been the force behind the matching funds for our end of year fundraiser. We caught up with him for a lightning round Q&A to find out a bit more about who is he and what end of the year reflections he might have.

Advice for beginning the new year in style:

What is style today?  Also, I use a face mask that says “Beware of People.” Advice? Please stay alive, we are at the beginning of the end, but not quite the end.

Message for the Kaya Community:

Please help the writers Kaya supports and Kaya.  The amount you give probably means more for the recipients than if it stayed with you, and the effect of your kind generosity will be felt by both authors and readers and many more.

  1. Fantastic quite a special person helping to raise money for a great cause. We need more self less individuals lie him today in the tumultuous world we live in.

More power to Stevie stay healthy and safe and have a great holiday season!
